Lanang Jumbo

The Titanic Apex of Fine Natural Robusta

Step into the absolute frontier of specialty coffee anomalies with the grandest single-origin presentation in Indonesia. Cultivated across the volcanic ridges of southern Sumatra, West Lampung Lanang Jumbo represents a stunning double-anomaly of nature. It merges the legendary vitality of Kopi Lanang (Peaberry)—where a single coffee cherry concentrates all its structural energy into just one round seed—with an Extra Large Bean (ELB) giant screen profile. The result is an ultra-dense, colossal peaberry that delivers massive body and thick chocolate sweetness entirely free of harsh bitterness. Discover the premium high-altitude terroir and patient sun-cured natural processing that turn this extreme selection into an elite cup.

🌱 The Highland Terroir & The Titanic Peaberry Anomaly

Our single-origin coffee comes from smallholder family estates hidden within the misty volcanic peaks of West Lampung. While standard coffee cherries split their internal energy to cultivate two flat-faced seeds, a natural twist during spring pollination prompts the fruit to form a single round seed. This rare occurrence accounts for only 5% to 10% of the entire global harvest. Furthermore, our Jumbo selection filters out only the absolute largest of these single seeds (Screen Size 18+).
Grown at rare high-altitude robusta zones reaching up to 1,200 MASL, the crop benefits from mineral-dense volcanic soil and cool mountain air. This environment slows down fruit maturation, allowing the titanic peaberry to pull higher levels of organic sugars, chlorogenic acids, and nutrients into its dense round shape, smoothing out any harsh bitterness

☀️ The Traditional Natural Process (Dry Method)

To enrich the deep structural sweetness of this colossal peaberry selection, the crop undergoes a patient, unhurried Natural Process:
[The Natural Process Sequence]
Meticulous Red-Cherry Sort ➔ Whole Fruit Sun-Drying (2-3 Weeks on Raised Beds) ➔ Slow Fruit Mucilage Fermentation ➔ Full Dehydration to 12% ➔ Precision Dry Hulling ➔ Multi-Stage Screen Separation for Lanang Jumbo Selection
  1. Flawless Harvesting: Farmers handpick only uniform, dark red cherries at their peak sugar concentration.
  2. Whole Fruit Dehydration: Instead of peeling the skin, the cherries are laid whole on sun-drenched drying patios.
  3. Slow Infusion: Over 14 to 21 days, the sweet fruit pulp and skin dehydrate completely around the seed. As it dries, the bean concentrates the complex sugars, creating a naturally sweet foundation.
  4. Jumbo Peaberry Sifting: Once fully dried to a stable 12% moisture level, the hardened pods are hulled. Expert sorters route the green coffee through specialized density and size screens to isolate the massive round Lanang Jumbo shapes from standard beans

✨ Why the Taste is Exceptionally Special

Because the Peaberry absorbs its nutrients alone inside the cherry, and because the Natural process dries it inside a casing of sweet fruit meat, it develops a highly concentrated flavor profile.
  • The Cupping Notes: It features an exceptionally heavy, buttery, and full-bodied texture with zero acidity. The front palate is dominated by notes of decadent dark cocoa, roasted peanuts, and a rich, creamy caramel sweetness.
  • A Clean, Intense Finish: Unlike lower-grade commercial alternatives, the highland natural processing cleanses the aftertaste, leaving behind a smooth, wood-smoked malt finish. It offers a clean energy boost and a strong aroma but is not too bitter like regular robusta coffee

☕ Master Brewing Suggestion: Traditional Tubruk or Moka Pot

To extract the thick texture and deep chocolate sweetness of a natural peaberry, use immersion or pressurized brewing methods.

Option A: ‘Kopi Tubruk’ (Traditional Indonesian Infusion) — For Bold Authenticity

This traditional method allows the natural oils and chocolate notes to coat the mouth beautifully without being trapped by paper filters.
  • Grind Size: Fine to Medium-Fine
  • Water Temperature: 94°C – 96°C (Hot, off-boil water)
  • Ratio: 1:12 (e.g., 15 grams of coffee to 180 ml of water)
  • Method: Put the coffee grounds directly into your glass. Pour the hot water over them, stir thoroughly, and let it steep for 4 minutes. Let the grounds settle completely to the bottom before taking your first sweet, chocolatey sip.

Option B: The Stovetop Moka Pot — For an Intense Espresso-Like Profile

  • Grind Size: Fine
  • Method: Fill the coffee basket evenly without overly pressing the grounds. Brew over low, steady heat. This extraction pulls out a dense, syrupy hazelnut crema, making it the perfect base for an unforgettably rich Kopi Susu (milk+coffee blend).
